Lost Movie Plot

Lost is streaming on Zee5. It is basically a feature film that revolves around the theme of missing people all over India. It also gives an insight into the challenges that might be faced while solving these cases.

The director, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, has already won the hearts of critics and people through his previous film, Pink. The leading character is played by Yami Gautam in the role of a crime reporter who investigates the missing case of a Dalit who was a theatre activist. This movie is set in the city of Kolkata. Lost also highlights several other issues prevailing in modern-day society. It deals with caste-related issues, political influence, adverse effects of activism, etc.

The film has a strong cast who have done justice to their characters, but there was a lack of coordination amongst the characters. This problem is a reason that has let the second half of the movie down.

 Hence, the good portions of the movie got subdued due to this problem. The film is primarily in Hindi, but Bengali has also been used occasionally in some scenes. 

The film starts with a scene introducing a journalist named Vidhi Sahani, a character played by Yami Gautam, where she sees a woman crying for her lost brother Ishan, a character played by Tushar Pandey, in a police station. It brings the case to her attention, which takes a turn when the missing person is accused of being a Naxalite who was indoctrinated and had vanished for a particular agenda.

There are other people in the case, including a famous state minister named Ranjan Varman, played by Rahul Khanna, Ishan’s careerist ex-girlfriend named Ankita Chauhan, played by Pia Bajpaiee Ankita Chauhan, and his sister, whose role was played by Honey Jain who is firm in clearing that her brother could never be a Naxalite.

Vidhi’s grandfather, whose role was played by Pankaj Kapur, guides her in the investigation. Neel Bhoopalam, in the character of her boyfriend Jeet, also gives her guidance. Vidhi also faces problems dealing with her parents, who are too conscious of their financial status. Vidhi makes failed attempts to solve the case by taking interviews with Varman and several police officials. It goes on in the second half in a disconnected way. In the final 20 minutes, the script seems rushed and awkward, with no clear expression of the message. However, the movie gives some positive messages, and the audience can witness the good performances of the actors.

The Lost movie is perfectly set in the mysterious city of Kolkata. The cinematography of this film is quite good. However, the script seemed disjointed and was not composed at all.
